Are you like me—always hunting for visual inspiration for your home? I’m a sucker for a home tour, especially one that focuses on real-life storage solutions. Our simple home tour continues today with my laundry room and "tiny" home office. These are hardworking spaces where everything has an obvious home, keeping clutter at zero and essentials within reach.

The Laundry Room: Beauty Meets Utility
I am fortunate that my laundry room has ample storage and counter space, which makes everyday chores feel effortless. One of my favorite pieces is an antique wicker laundry basket; it’s a beautiful find that we use to collect kitchen linens and cleaning cloths.
Smart Storage Above the Washer:

I utilize the cabinets above the washer for laundry-specific items like detergent, whitening powder, vinegar, and bleach.
Aesthetic & Ease: I decant daily essentials into small glass containers on the bottom shelf.
Bulk Storage: Larger refill containers stay tucked away on the shelf above.
The Mending Kit: A small acrylic bin holds sewing basics—thread, needles, and a measuring tape—so replacing a button is never a hassle.

The Utility Zone Above the Dryer:
The cabinets above the dryer house my DIY cleaning supplies, including rubbing alcohol and hydrogen peroxide.
Clear Visibility: I use stackable acrylic bins for household "utility" items like hammers, nails, lightbulbs, and batteries. Being able to see everything at a glance makes finding what we need a breeze.
Mental Margin: Just like in my pantry, I have several empty shelves here. I have no desire to fill them; those open spaces provide a sense of "mental margin" that I treasure.

The Peg Rail: Decor with a Job
Opposite the machines, a peg rail adds both beauty and function. It’s home to our dusters, fly swatter, and baskets for essential oils and cleaning pads. Having these items ready to grab—while they double as decor—is a total win-win.

The "Closet" Office
Since I don’t have a spare bedroom, I had to get creative. Just outside the laundry room is a utility closet that I’ve converted into a tiny office (that also houses my stick vacuum!).
Because I keep a minimal "linen" inventory—one set of sheets per bed and two towels per person stored right in the bathrooms—I didn’t actually need a linen closet. This freed up the perfect nook for my "desk": a beautiful antique dresser.
The Desktop: This holds my master calendar, printer, and a quirky vintage piggy bank that plays music. (She’s big, but I couldn't resist!)
The Drawers: The small top drawers house stationery supplies (pens, tape, paperclips), while the larger drawers hold printer paper, keepsakes for my kids, and a small gift-wrapping station.
The Boundary: The best part? The small footprint acts as a natural boundary, preventing me from over-collecting office supplies.
Need a Creative Solution?
Do you need a dedicated space but feel like you’ve run out of rooms? It might be time to get creative. You may think you need a bigger home, but often, you simply need to declutter and better utilize the square footage you already have.
